If you are interested in becoming a member or associate member (fluffer) of Avernus MCC please feel free to come an see us at our meetings and get to know us. We meet every other Monday night at the Plough on Pall Mall in Chorley, Lancashire.
Avernus MCC endeavours to keep politics to an absolute minimum but we do have certain criteria for membership. This enables the smooth running of the club and the harmony of its members. Basically so we know we're all singing off the same hymn sheet and to instill pride in the people involved with the club.
Here is an excerpt from the club charter which all members and fluffers are subject to. A full version is availale for anyone expressing an interest in joining the club.
1. To be a full member of the club you must have a FULL motorcycle licence.
2. The minimum requirement to be considered for full membership of the club is six meetings and one club nominated rally. Potential members will then be proposed to all full members in an open vote and at least an 80% acceptance must be achieved to secure membership. (Qualifying meetings will only commence when potential members have had the opportunity to get to know the club and it's members)
3. Club merchandise must be sanctioned by the committee and anything with the club logo on it must only be worn/displayed by full members. A deposit of £10.00 will be required from club members for their club badge which remains the property of the club and must be returned if member leaves the club whereon the deposit will be repaid.
4. It is strictly forbidden for the club badge to be displayed on the back of any garment
or other item.
5. It is every member and fluffers responsibility to positively promote the club
where possible.
6. On each 12 month anniversary of the clubs launch, there will be an annual general
meeting (AGM) where all comittee posts, including chairman, will be automatically resigned
and a vote will be cast for the election or re-election of the comittee. All full members will
be expected to vote.
7. Fluffers who obtain a full motorcycle licence and have been associated with the club for more than six months can be promoted to full members without the induction process mentioned above but will still be liable to the vote.
